It compares the same pellet fired level at 0° with the same pellet fired at an angle over the same measured distance. The gap between the two pellet paths is the angled-shot compensation.

Why don't I need scope height or zero distance?
The scope isn't missing. It was never part of the question.
This Tool compares one pellet path with another, not a pellet path with the crosshair. Scope height and zero distance describe where the sightline sits in relation to the trajectory. The same sighting geometry applies to both shots, so it cancels from the comparison.
Compare pellet with pellet, and the scope disappears.
